Feel free to delete this if this is not allowed but this hit very close to home. Taegan is my fiance's bestfriends daughter and we are extrememly close to her family. Our children are very close in age and Taegan was like family. The person that killed her is out on bond for only $5,000. What kind of justice is that? He was out of jail before little princess was even buried. Please sign her petition to help get some justice for Taegan and pass it on to anyone else you know that would sign it.

My name is Sandra and I have a daughter that was born on the Blue Moon in 2001 (November 30). We named her Anna Blue after the Blue Moon. She is now 4 1/2 years old and just welcomed home a baby brother. She is very jealous, and does not understand that the baby is too young to do some things, and she wakes him up when he is sleeping. She also doesn't understand breastfeeding and it really gets annoying trying to explain it to her everytime. Any suggestions for me? I try to keep my patience, but everytime she sees a boob she asks if the baby is going to kiss my boob or something like that. I explain it to her gently everytime that this is how the baby gets his nourishment, etc. I love her, but my patience is wearing thin because of the lack of sleep!

My 4 1/2 yr old's speech therapy [Today is:: Tuesday, December 27th, 2005 9:03pm]

hidthemyd
Robert had his first speech therapy apt, the one his Doctor wanted to have happen at his 4 1/2 yr old WCC. Well, I was happy to finally have it, as they have canceled quite a few times, and because of funds, I had to cancel once.

Anyways, his therapist is really nice, and her name is Victoria.
She started it off asking me some of my concerns, and what I have noticed if anything besides what the doctor put in her chartnotes. Well, just having Robert talk to her, she decided to do a language test, to see how well he would score on that. He tested at 3 year old level. The articulation, however, was perfect as far as where he should be. So I guess that's good.
Next came comprehension... Well, he got very irritated with her during some points of the test, not sure if he was bored, or didn't understand he wishes, but he did so far score a 3 1/2 year old level. She is going to finish that test in 2 weeks, as Robert was done, and didn't want to continue.

She gave me information on early intervention that our area has, that if he qualifies, will give us government funded childcare that is made especially for children with learning disabilities. She asked if Robert's hearing had ever been tested, as he speaks and understands only certain words, and yes, it has by an Audiologist, as he had failed the test his pediatrician gave him, so we know it's not his hearing. John thinks Robert may have brain damage from the time we found his blue in car seat, and we don't know how long he went without oxygen. I, myself, don't care how it happened, just want to make Robert comfortable, and able to learn comfortably. :)

Anyone having a situation similiar to this?

and now the battle that has brought me here!
Things in the mouth, she has now started chewing her finger nails. if she can put it in her mouth she will. we had a big fight tonight because she is eating pencil erasers.
i cant really take the pencils away because her teacher want her to practice making letters.
she has never sucked her thumb, or a binky.
i have told her that if she doesnt not stop it i will put hot sauce, on it. but i don't have the heart to do it.
PLEASE if anyone has any ideal on how to stop this, please let me know.
I want to stop this, before she gets worms.

Question on Potty Training [Today is:: Friday, November 4th, 2005 12:08pm]

My daughter is 3 1/2 and we're STILL having trouble with getting her potty trained. She'll go "pee" in the potty if someone reminds her to go, every now and then she'll tell us that she has to go. But, getting her to go "poop" in the potty is impossible. I've been told by friends that it could be because of her being ADHD and because of her being speech delayed....but I was wondering if by chance anyone else has had this issue or if anyone has any suggestions? Any advice will be greatly appreciated :)

Hey everyone! I joined your community a few days ago and am finally getting around to introducing myself...

What is your name?
Christina
When was your child born?
November 21, 2001
Was it a c-section or vaginal birth?
emergency c-section, she wasn't due to be here until Jan. 3, 2002. The doctor did a check to see how things were coming, and he was surprised to see her feet... So I was wheeled off to surgery.
Child's name (first name only if you feel comfortable)?
Abigail
How many hours were you in labor?
I guess about 4 hours- Water broke as I was stepping out of the car to go to work at 8:00, and then the epidural was around noon, she was born at 12:48. I was in serious pain the whole time (my back only) and later my doctor told me that my contactions weren't even showing up on the moniter at all... Never understood that, maybe because the thing was strapped to my belly and I had absolutely no pains there.
What bonded you with him/her, or them?
Oy. I feel awful when I say this, but here goes- the first time I held and nursed her, two days after she was born, was the first time it really clicked. It all felt unreal before that. I suppose I just wasn't mentally there yet. I wasn't totally ready since I thought we had a month and a half left. I was totally in love with her the day we found out we were having a baby, but that's what bonded us. Wow, that was long winded. Sorry :P
What is the most rewarding experience you have had?
hehe. dunno...
What are some of the battles that you have had?
POTTY TRAINING!!! we started and stopped twice. Third time was the charm. But we are still working on overnight training.

So that's that... I'm looking forward to being a part of this community!

Beat the heat... [Today is:: Wednesday, July 13th, 2005 7:45pm]

Ok, it was 80 degrees at 3am last night making everyone in the household cranky, uninterested in food and lazy. Local beaches are closed due to bacteria levels and a ban is on for sprinkler use do to water shortages. We have the kiddie pool and water guns but we are getting bored of that. So what I am looking for is any suggestions on how to cool off(games and such) and what to eat(that a 3 yo would like) that requires minimal amounts of cooking.

Livid and not to sure how to respond... [Today is:: Thursday, June 30th, 2005 9:23pm]

So Gus walks into the living room this evening and says "Mommy what are you doing?" I say "Just watching the news...do you need anything?"

"No." Then he pulls down his pants and pees on the floor.

Now, he has been pretty well potty trained since this Spring so I can only think this is some kind of power thing. He stopped mid-stream when I yelled "What are you doing?" So I know its not a control issue.

I'm a pretty permissive parent and when I punish I like to make the punishment "fit the crime". ie, if he doesnt throw out his freeze pop wrapper he doesnt get another one or if he doesnt clean up his bath toys he doesnt get to play with them the next time he takes a bath. I have no idea what to do in this case.

It seems lately he is more interested in being more in control of things like picking out his own clothes and wanting to decide what to have for lunch, which I encourage, but this is crazy.
